Fix Steam error code 107 on Windows 11/10/8 PC

The error code 107 on Steam prevents the game client from loading. The solutions in this troubleshooting guide should assist you in resolving this issue and returning to your favorite games as soon as possible.

How to Troubleshoot Steam Error 107

Fix number 1: Update your operating system, Steam, and graphics drivers.

Running the latest Windows 10, Steam, and graphics driver updates is an excellent way to avoid technical glitches and errors when using Steam and other gaming tools.

Make sure you’re running the most recent version of Windows 10. Check for and install any pending Steam updates. Check the Device Manager for any new driver versions or download them directly from the GPU manufacturer’s website.

After you’ve updated everything, restart your computer, launch Steam, and check to see if error 107 has been resolved. It’s also a good idea to restart your modem.

Fix 2: Enable date and time synchronization again.

If you do not use the correct date and time settings for your region, Steam may not be available, or you may receive error 107.

We recommend that you allow Windows 10 to set the time automatically. To do so, launch the Settings app and go to the Date & Time section.

If the automatic date and time setup is already enabled, turn off “Set time automatically” and “Set time zone automatically,” then turn them back on to refresh the settings.

Fix 3: Disable Steam Beta

Check that you’re using a stable Steam build. If you’re using Steam Beta, we recommend removing the beta client file and switching to the stable version of the game client.

Being enrolled in the Steam Beta is beneficial because it allows you to test out upcoming features, but this version is frequently glitched and buggy. Keep in mind that Steam beta builds are inherently unstable.

To turn off the Steam beta, navigate to the package folder in your Steam directory (C: Steam package) and delete the Beta file.

Fix 4: Delete the web browser cache from Steam.

Too many temporary files stored as cache and cookies on your browser may cause Steam to slow down or even fail to launch.

To avoid such glitches, you should clear your browser cache on a regular basis. We recommend clearing the Steam web browser cache to resolve error 107.

  • Go to Settings by clicking on Steam.
  • Select “Web Browser” from the drop-down menu. Clear your web browser’s cache.
  • If you want, you can also clear your browser’s cache and cookies.

Fix 5: Modify your DNS settings.

Check that your network connection is not causing steam error 107. Restart your modem and router if necessary (if you use this configuration).

Change your DNS settings and experiment with different DNS settings.

To modify the DNS addresses in Windows 10, follow these steps:

  • Navigate to the Control Panel.
  • Navigate to Network and Internet Network Connections.
  • Select Properties from the context menu when you right-click on your network.
  • Select IPv4 and then click “Properties.”

Set your new DNS addresses as follows:

The Google Public DNS addresses are and

The OpenDNS addresses are and

Cloudflare and

Save your changes, restart your computer, and relaunch Steam.

Aside from that, the Steam desktop app is dependent on Chromium to function. So, if you use Google Chrome as your default browser, error 107 might sound familiar. Because both products use the Chromium architecture, the same error can affect the web browser as well.
